Document checklist: what do you need to start today?

Nothing physical. No scans, no signature on paper. This checklist shows what you should have to hand before you start your BV.

In this article4 sections
  1. 01For yourself
  2. 02For your BV
  3. 03For co-founders
  4. 04What you DON'T need

Most founders are daunted when they see the notarial process, especially by the paperwork. At Digital Notary there is no paperwork. This is everything you need to start today.

For yourself

  • A valid passport or Dutch ID card (expiry date in the future)
  • Your home address
  • A phone number we can reach you on
  • An email address you can easily access; all communication goes through it

For your BV

  • A working name for your BV (can be changed until the deed is executed)
  • A short description of the company's objects in plain language (e.g. 'developing and operating software-as-a-service')
  • A visiting address for your BV (may initially be your home address)
  • Optional: a business plan or pitch deck (we use it to suggest your objects clause and SBI codes)

For co-founders

For each co-founder we need: name, email and a valid ID. We automatically send them an invitation to identify themselves; you don't have to forward their documents.

What you DON'T need

  • No printer, everything is digital
  • No visit to the notary's office
  • No sending your ID to the notary; we handle that check through Sumsub
  • No Excel cap table; we build it live in the platform
